88-Year-Old Man Severely Injured in Diamond Ridge Explosion, Fire

Alaska State Troopers, KESA Fire, Anchor Point Fire, and the Homer Fire Department responded to a blaze on Diamond Ridge Road on Wednesday morning at 9:15 am to find the home engulfed in flames.

The 88-year-old owner of the home was rushed to the South Peninsula Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

The investigation at the scene found that the man had attempted to start a fire in his wood stove using gasoline. When ignited there was a tremendous explosion, starting the  blaze.

The home, valued at $160,000 was a complete loss.
