Active Search Suspended for Missing Juneau Woman

Alaska State Troopers announced at 4 pm on Monday that the active search for Juneau resident 36-year-old Kristina Young is suspended pending further leads.

Just before 8 pm, Sunday, Juneau Police requested assistance from the Alaska State Troopers in locating Young who went missing on Sunday. The search was initiated after the body of her brother, 40-year-old George Benjamin Young was found face-down in the water near the Egan Drive Bridge at the mouth of Lemon Creek.

G. Young had suffered trauma from being washed down Lemon Creek and the ensuing investigation tracked the point of origin to a campsite approximately one mile upstream near the Glacier Highway. The campsite contained items belonging to both Youngs, prompting a search for K. Young.

Also at the campsite were alcohol containers consistant with alcohol containers seen on surveillance tapes being purchased by K. Young at a convenience store at 1:30 pm on Sunday.

SEADOGS and approximately 20 searchers took to ground in the search for K. Young on Sunday. Searchers began anew on Monday and aircraft were notified to keep a lookout for the missing woman.

K. Young is described as 5-foot-4 inches tall and weighing approximately 140 pounds with blue eyes and blonde hair.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
