Next week the Anchorage Museum returns to its winter schedule. Starting Monday, Oct. 1, museum hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, noon to 6 p.m. Sundays, closed Mondays. Winter hours are in effect until April 30.

October also marks a switch to the museum’s fall planetarium schedule. The planetarium will offer seven shows every weekend until Dec. 31, including two new shows:

Strange Planets, 3 p.m. Saturdays

There are nearly 800 alien planets in our galaxy … and that number grows every week. These planets outside our solar system, called exoplanets, orbit around distant stars. Travel to these strange planets and learn how NASA’s Kepler mission led to these amazing discoveries. A museum educator guides this journey and answers audience questions.

Dinosaur Passage to Pangaea, 12:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays

This animated adventure explains one of the greatest geological events in Earth’s history: The separation of the supercontinent Pangaea. When two children embark on a geology field trip back in time, they are thrown into a fantastic voyage where they witness incredible geological wonders and learn about the mysterious process that created the present-day continents.
