The suspect, who was the subject of a Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) operation in Fairbanks on Tuesday after taking troopers on a short car chase before crashing into a ditch and taking flight on foot, has been identified by troopers.

In Wednesday, troopers identified the suspect as 28-year-old Ryan R. Portlock of Anchorage. They reveal that Portlock has an open arrest warrant for “felony probation violations related to Theft I, and Fail to Stop at the Direction of a Peace Officer convictions.”

AST also announced that new charges resulting from Tuesday’s events “will be determined after consultation with the District Attorney’s Office, and presentation to a grand jury.”

Portlock fled the scene after the stolen vehicle he was driving was reported in a five-plex driveway on Dolly Varden Street on Tuesday. After a short chase, Portlock entered a ditch and then fled troopers on foot. Believing that Portlock had doubled back and was returning to the complex, search warrants were issued and SERT was dispatched to that location.

SERT entered the complex hours later, after several attempts at communication with Portlock had failed, only to find him no there.

Troopers are asking that anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Portlock to contact them at 907-451-5100.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
