The vehicle sped away at speeds in excess of 100 mph, the trooper dispatch revealed, but then came to a stop near mile 2 of the Susitna Parkway, where the driver got out of the vehicle and fled on foot. When the driver did so, he left a passenger, identified as Rose Walker, ages 50, behind.
Troopers attempted to obtain the identity of the driver from Walker, but Walker hindered their attempts, it was reported.
Troopers would later locate the driver, identified as 39-year-old Jeffrey Brigman, at a nearby residence.
The trooper investigation would find that Brigman was wanted on several warrants, that included a $20,000 warrant for Failure to Appear for trial on the original charge of Vehicle Theft/DUI, another $20,000 warrant for Failure to Appear for Trial Call on two counts of MICS IV and No insurance. In addition, Brigman was wanted on $1,000 Violation of Conditions of Release warrant and a No Bail Warrant for Parole Violation on the original charge of Manslaughter.
New charges of Reckless Driving, Driving with a Revoked License, and Eluding I were leveled at Brigman.
Both Brigman and Walker were arrested and transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility, where they were remanded. Brigman’s bail was set at $46,000 and Walker’s was set at $750.
