Child Blows IID, Soldotna Woman Goes to Jail

On Thursday, Alaska State Troopers in Soldotna responded to a REDDI (Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately) call concerning a female driver in the Funny River Road area. The call resulted in an arrest.

At 8:46 pm on Thursday troopers responded to the area to locate the vehicle identified in the call. The vehicle was located on King Salmon Drive, was pulled over, and the driver of the vehicle was  contacted.

When troopers contacted the driver, they identified her as 30-year-old Soldotna resident Tiffany Porter. The investigation by troopers would find that Porter was driving under the influence of alcohol  and had a revoked license.

There was also a 12-year-old juvenile in the vehicle at the time.

The trooper investigation would reveal that Porter was required to have an Ignition Interlock Device installed in the vehicle. A check would find that there was indeed a device installed. Troopers allege that Porter was having the child blow into the device periodically so that she could continue to operate the vehicle.

Porter was arrested and charged with DUI, Driving with a Revoked License, Avoidance of an IID, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Porter was transported to the Wildwood Pretrial Facility where she was remanded without bail.

The vehicle was released to a sober person at the scene.
