In an interview on CNN with Fareed Zakaria Clinton said that he feels that Romney's comments on the 47% will make it difficult for Romney too perform well in the upcoming debates.
Clinton said, “I think it puts a heavier burden on him in the debates to talk about what he meant.” Clinton was speaking of the secretly taped video of Romney making statements at a $50,000 a plate Florida fundraiser where Romney says 47% of the nation’s population pay no taxes and expect the government to supply them with housing and food.

Romney has tried to downplay his statements and has said that his words were “not elegantly stated.” Despite being hammered from the left and right over his comments, Romney is standing by what he said.
Clinton on the other hand says, “The 47 percent, those that are adults, they do pay taxes. They pay Social Security taxes. They pay Medicare taxes. They pay state and local taxes.”
Clinton went on to say, “But all of those people who don’t pay ordinary income tax would love to be back paying ordinary income tax. They’d love to have a full-time job instead of a part-time job, or any job at all, or be able to get a pay raise.”
Clinton pointed out that the Romney remarks are in no way a knock out punch and that the election will likely be a close race.
