Eagle River Eluder Ends up in Ditch

An attempt to evade a traffic stop and arrest ended badly for an Eagle River woman after a short pursuit on Wednesday morning.

Alaska  State Troopers with the Bureau of Highway Patrol in Wasilla, while on patrol near mile 50 of the Parks Highway, observed the driver of a Dodge sedan not wearing a seat belt and so attempted a traffic stop at 10:30 am on Wednesday. Instead of pulling over, however, the driver of the sedan accelerated away from the trooper and attempted to elude the officer. As she sped down the highway, the driver attempted to negotiate a turn onto Rainbow Street in an effort to shake the trooper. But, the driver was traveling too fast to successfully make the turn and ended up in the ditch.

When contacted, the driver was identified as Tamra Cox, age 24, of Eagle River. A quick check would show that T. Cox was driving with a revoked driver’s license and no insurance.

Contact of a passenger in the vehicle would identify that passenger of Haley Cox, age 22, of Eagle River, and would also find that she had a $250 arrest warrant for Failure to Appear on the charges of Driving with License Revoked and No Insurance.

T. Cox was arrested on charges of Failure to Stop at the Direction of a Peace Officer and DWLR. H. Cox was arrested on the active warrant.

Both individuals were transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where they were remanded. T.Cox had her bail set at $1,000 and H. Cox was held on $250 bail.
