Troopers opened an investigation into a serious incident that occurred on Saturday in Emmonak involving several counts of Attempted Murder and Assault, the trooper dispatch revealed this weekend.
A disturbance call was called in to troopers on Saturday. Troopers investigated the call and their investigation revealed that 23-year-old Lucas Agathluk had caused a disturbance at his residence there.
The investigation would find that Agathluk had assaulted a family member by striking them in the head multiple times. Then, when a neighbor responded to the residence to assist, Agathlik pointed a weapon at them and threatened them. The neighbor retreated from the residence, and Agathluk opened fire with his weapon.
It was found that Agathluk also pointed the weapon at the family member during the incident and had discharged the rifle in their direction during the disturbance.
Agathluk, when contacted by other family members, resisted arrest. He was taken into custoday, but remained combative as he was jailed in the community.
Troopers charged Agathluk with two counts of Attempted Murder I, two counts of Assault III, Assault IV, Misconduct Involving Weapons II, Criminal Mischief, and resisting arrest.
Agathluk was transported to Bethel, where he was remanded to the Yukon-Kuskokwim Correctional Center to await arraignment. He was arraigned on Sunday morning.
Agathluk was the subject of two assault incidences in 2015, but, those charges would later be reduced to Harassment II.
