Despite efforts to evade Alaska State troopers following a hit-and-run accident on Sunday, Fairbanks felon, 29-year-old Ivan Vent, was ultimately apprehended by troopers, the trooper dispatch reported on Tuesday.

While conducting holiday traffic enforcement, a trooper patrolling the area of the intersection of Chena Pump Road and Riverstone Way, would locate a two vehicle traffic collision involving a 1995 Dodge neon and a 2005 Ford pickup truck. As the trooper arrived on scene, “the driver of the Dodge Neon in his female passenger, led the crash scene on foot,” it was reported.

Troopers contacted the driver of the Ford pickup, identified as Ronald Jaeger, then continued in their efforts to locate the driver, later identified as Vent, and his female passenger. A short time later, troopers would find “two people attempting to avoid them at the Chena Pump Plaza.” As the officer was waiting for additional troopers to arrive at the Plaza, another vehicle arrived there, “and the subjects ran over to the vehicle and had the driver leave,” it was reported.[xyz-ihs snippet=”adsense-body-ad”]The trooper that was at the scene successfully flagged down the vehicle while it was still in the parking lot, and contacted the occupants. It was found then that the driver of that vehicle was unaware that the two passengers that he had picked up were attempting to avoid troopers.

Following contact, the passenger of the Dodge Neon that was involved in the traffic accident, was positively identified and released from the scene.

As troopers attempted to ascertain the identity of the driver of the Neon, he would provide troopers with a false name in an attempt to conceal his identity. Despite his efforts to confound troopers, they would ultimately identify him. After confirming his identity, troopers would find that he was a felon, and also in possession of a revolver. As a result of their investigation, troopers would arrest Vent on charges that included “Driving With License Revoked, Immediate Action after an Accident (Hit and Run), Misconduct Involving Weapons III, False Information and his multiple outstanding warrants for assault, failure to appear and Driving With License Revoked,” the trooper dispatch revealed.

Troopers say that Vent was taken to the Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, where he received medical treatment for injuries sustained in the collision, then remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center on his charges.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
