Connecticut Man Hits Moose, Dies of Injuries

Alaska State Troopers responded to an accident involving wildlife during the early morning hours of Sunday, July 15th.

According to the report, troopers responded to an accident at mile 278 of the Richardson Highway at 4:38 am this morning. Mile 278 is near Quartz Lake.

At the scene, troopers found that 57-year-old Philip J Dubourg of Connecticut had died at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident.

The trooper investigation revealed that Dubourg had been traveling northbound on the highway on his red 2001 Kawasaki motorcycle when a moose ran out into the road in front of him.

Unable to avoid the moose, Dubourg ran into him and as a result, died of his injuries. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Next of kin have been notified.
