Glennallen Woman Gains Multiple Charges after Hit and Run Crash

image08-04-2015 09.03.54Glennallen-based troopers revealed on Saturday that a Glennallen woman had been charged with DUI, Leaving the Scene of an Accident Involving Injury, No Insurance, and Driving While License Revoked/Cancelled/Suspended after a Hit and Run incident on the Saturday prior.

According to the trooper investigation, 25-year-old Glennallen woman, Leah Powning. was driving a Chevy pickup westbound at mile 186 of the Glenn Highway, when she crossed the centerline on the highway.

A motorhome traveling eastbound on the highway, “took evasive action,” and narrowly avoided a head-on collision with Powning. Powning side-swiped the passenger side of the motorhome before crashing headlong into a Chevy SUV traveling behind the motorhome.

Immediately after the head-on collision with the SUV, Powning fled the scene in the pickup, but was located three miles down the road at mile 183.

The “Investigation resulted in the arrest of Leah Powning for DUI, Leaving the Scene, No Insurance, and DWLS,” troopers reported in the trooper dispatch.

No serious injuries were reported as the result of the crash.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
