ORIGINAL STORY: Police and SWAT are still on-scene at the 12000 block of Ginami Street on Thursday morning attempting to gain the peaceful surrender of a shooting suspect that has been barricaded in his home since Wednesday morning.

The un-named, 69-year-old suspect barricaded himself in his home after firing shots at a tree-cutting crew that was working to clear brush from around powerlines on Wednesday. The Carlos Tree Service employees were able to run from the property to safety without injury.

The suspect, who police were able to make contact with, refused to give himself up. Then, after 4 pm, as officers were preparing to deploy gas into the building, the suspect momentarily exited the residence and fired shots at the police, the Anchorage Police Department reported. There were no injuries in that altercation as well.
