Earlier in the week he participated in the Alaska OWL project with connects students with distance education opportunities. In this case, students at several libraries across Alaska were able to listen to Begich read Blueberry Shoe, written by Alaskan Ann Dixon, to them from the U.S. Senate.

This week U.S. Sen. Mark Begich's "Begich Minute" features the Alaska Bering Sea Crabbers who visited Washington, DC to take part in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA)'s 37th Annual Fish Fry. Sen. Begich joined the Bering Sea Crabbers at the event to help serve crab sliders and bisque, showing off Alaska's prized crab to visitors like Secretary of Commerce Bill Bryson and NOAA Administrator Jane Lubchenco, just to name a few. Joining Sen. Begich are Kale Garcia, Siri Dammarell, Angela Keeling-Garcia, Kiyo Marsh, Jim Stone, and Mona Stone
