UPDATE: At around 3 pm, with the assistance of an FBI SWAT team, the suspect, now identified as 29-year-old Joseph Szajkowski, gave up after the door to the apartment was breached and officers ordered the suspect to surrender.

ORIGINAL STORY:An armed stand-off on the 2900 block of Misty Springs Court began early Thursday morning after police were contacted by a mother that reported that her daughter “had been assaulted and threatened by her significant other with weapons inside of a residence” at that location.

Police responded to the address bordering the Campbell Park off of East Dowling Road shortly after the 3:30 am call.Prior to the response of police, the daughter was able to make it out of the home.

Police say that the suspect “is believed to be armed with firearms and may be under the influence of drugs,” the department said. The investigation found that in addition to the early morning incident, the suspect had assaulted the woman in the days prior.

Police have obtained warrants for the arrest of the suspect on charges of Kidnapping and Assault.

They have yet to make contact with the barricaded man, but hope to get him to surrender peacefully.
