Lower Kalskag Drunk Driver Injures Two in SUV/Four-wheeler Accident

An injury accident involving a drunk driver operating a SUV and a four-wheeler with four juveniles aboard in the community of Lower Kalskag was reported to Aniak-based Alaska State Troopers early on Sunday morning.

After receiving the report of the incident at just before 1 am on Sunday morning, Troopers from Aniak responded to the scene to investigate the accident. Troopers would determine that 47-year-old Billy Williams of Lower Kalskag was driving a Ford Explorer under the influence of alcohol when he ran into a Honda Foreman four-wheeler carrying four juvenile passengers.

Two of the riders were injured and the other two reported that they were placed in fear of imminent serious physical injury. The four-wheeler sustained approximately $750 worth of damage.

During the investigation, it was also found that Williams was driving with a revoked driver’s license.

Williams was charged with Assault IV x4, Criminal Mischief III, DUI, and DWLR. He was transported to the temporary holding facility in Aniak and then transferred to the Yukon-Kuskokwim Correctional Center in Bethel for arraignment.
