Jaelyn Young and Muhammad Dakhlalla have both been sentenced to federal prison for conspiring to join ISIS in Syria.

A Mississippi man who was attending college at Mississippi State University as a Psychology student has been sentenced to eight years in prison and 15 years probation after he was convicted on Federal terrorism charges. He pleaded guilty to conspiring to join up with ISIS in Syria.

22-year-old Muhannad Dakhlalla, and his fiancee, Jaelyn Young, were arrested in August 2015 at a Mississippi airport as they were preparing to elope to Istanbul. They had intended to get married in Turkey and then travel to Syria.

Prosecutors say that Young converted to Islam while attending college at Mississippi State University. After  that, she is reported to have talked Dakhlalla into going along with her plan.

Young was sentenced earlier this month. She was sentenced to 12 years in prison as well as 15 years probation. She was also ordered to undergo mandatory mental health treatment.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
