An Orlando, Florida man has been discovered dead off of the Mount Roberts Trail at Bear Valley  on Sunday evening the trooper dispatch reports.

It was at 2:19 pm on Sunday that Juneau-based troopers received a report of a missing hiker on the Mount Roberts Trail. The caller told authorities that they had not seen, or heard from 35-year-old Michael Patrick Blaisdell since the day before at 11:33 am. 

Five search teams were dispatched by the Juneau Mountain Search and SEADOGs. Searchers were transported by Temsco helicopter, the helicopter also provided aerial search.

At 7:53 pm, the body of the Florida hiker was found off of the Mount Roberts Trail at the base of a fifty-foot drop in Bear Valley.

Blaisdell was declared deceased at the scene by searchers.

The victim’s next of kin have been notified.
