Palmer Man Arrested for Felony DUI Charges after Three-Car Collision

A three-vehicle accident landed a Palmer man in jail on Felony DUI charges on Thursday afternoon the trooper dispatch reports.

An investigation after responding to a three-car collision at the intersection of North Trunk Road and College Drive at 3:35 pm Thursday afternoon would reveal that 39-year-old Palmer man Jason K. Anvil was driving under the influence, and had done so two or more times in the last ten years, and so was charged with Felony DUI. Anvil was also charged with Assault III, and Driving while License Revoked.

Troopers investigating the scene said that while Anvil was traveling southbound on North Trunk Road in a silver 2013 Ford Focus, he “rear-ended” a blue 1998 Subaru Legacy, which in turn “rear-ended a silver 1999 Lexus RX3. The driver of the Subaru, 31-year-old Karen Johns of Anchorage sustained injuries in the accident and so was transported to the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Although the Lexus sustained only minor damage, the Legacy driven by Johns and the Focus driven by Anvil were both “totaled in the collision” troopers report.

Anvil was arrested on-scene for the three charges and transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was held on $7,000 bail plus Court Approved Third Party Custodian requirements.
