Palmer Man Arrested for Two Felony DUIs in One Arrest

DUI_Patrol_02A Palmer man was jailed on two felony DUIs on Friday after troopers responded to an abandoned vehicle in the ditch, the trooper dispatch reported.

When troopers arrived at the scene where a 2007 Toyota Tacoma was left in a ditch at mile one of Buffalo Mine Road, they observed a single set of tracks leaving the scene. They followed the tracks that led to a residence on Pine Drive 1.5 miles distant.

The trooper dispatch stated that “While looking for the registered owner of the vehicle Troopers noticed another vehicle, a dark-colored, 2006 Suzuki Verona, leave and then return to Scenic View Drive off of Buffalo Mine Road.”

Trooper located Mark Jaramillo at a neighbor’s residence, where the vehicle seen leaving and returning was also located running in the driveway. After questioning Jaramillo, troopers discovered that he had driven the second vehicle to the Toyota that was abandoned in the ditch. Further investigation found that Jaramillo had been driving that vehicle as well, and that Jaramillo had been driving under the influence of alcohol.

Jaramillo was arrested for DUI for each of the vehicles he was determined to have been driving. Because Jaramillo had two or more previous DUI convictions within the past 10 years, he was charged with twin felony DUIs.

Jaramillo’s vehicles were impounded by troopers “pending administrative actions to have the vehicles forfeited to the State of Alaska,” troopers report.

Jaramillo was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility with his bail set at $5,000 and a Court Approved Third Party.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
