Remains Discovered by Funny River Firefighters Identified as 2011 Missing Person

The remains discovered by a fire crew fighting the Funny River fire in June of 2014 have been identified as those of James Beaver of Soldotna troopers report.

Firefighters discovered the remains on June 1, 2014, and troopers responded to the scene via fire crew helicopter. At that time is was reported that the remains appeared to have been there for several years, there were not identifying items found with the body. The bones were photographed, collected and turned over to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage for positive identification and troopers began reviewing missing persons cases from the Missing Persons Clearing House.

Beaver, an Alaskan Native and 47-years old at the time of his disappearance, was reported missing by family members from his Kalifornsky Beach residence on March 4, 2011.

Cause of death has yet to be determined.
