Bethel Search and Rescue is currently in Shageluk coordinating volunteer efforts in the search for 18-year-old Alfred Hamilton, who was reported missing on Thursday.

It was at 9:42 am that Shageluk resident Kelly Workman “notified Aniak based Alaska State Troopers that her fiancé John Hamilton Sr.’s son” had been missing since around midnight on Wednesday morning the trooper dispatch reported on Monday. At the time of the missing persons report, Workman informed troopers that the entire village and surrounding area had been searched without positive results.

According to the report, Hamilton’s phone had been found to have been active for the last time at approximately 11:30 pm on Thursday. That night, Hamilton had been out consuming alcohol with friends at the new tribal hall. As the night came to a close, Hamilton refused to go home, and so was left sleeping on a bench outside of the hall.

The search was taken up by numerous volunteers from Grayling, Holy Cross, and Shaggeluk. In addition to those searchers, troopers have conducted aerial searches of the area without results. MATSAR also sent two dogs and their handlers to the community over the weekend to search for the missing teen.
