Togiak Man Arrested after Strangulation, Death Threat Incident

image07-01-2015 06.24.08Following an investigation on Sunday, Togiak Village Police Officers arrested a Togiak man on two counts of assault on Sunday night.

The investigation by the Togiak Village Police Officers found that 33-year-old Paul Markoff of Togiak had assaulted a female on Sunday by means of strangulation. During the assault, that the investigation discovered, took place throughout the day, Markoff made “repeated threats to kill” the victim and “dispose of her body,” the trooper dispatch reported on Tuesday.

Troopers arrived in Togiak on Monday and continued the investigation into the prolonged incident. Following their investigation, troopers transported Markoff to Dillingham, where he was remanded to the Dillingham Detention Center on charges of Felony Assault II and Felony Assault III-Repeat Threat of Death/Injury.

Markoff made his first appearance on the charges in court on Tuesday.
