Tragedy Strikes Again in Hooper Bay

For the fourth time in 16 days, tragedy has struck the small community of Hooper Bay, troopers reported the fourth suicide to occur in the small southwestern community on Saturday.

It was at 2:23 pm on Saturday that troopers received a report from Hooper Bay, informing them that 21-year-old Carl Dominic Robert Joe was found deceased by apparent suicide at his parent’s home. Troopers report that the young man had hung himself.

Joe’s death follows the death of three others since September 24th. 26-year-old Noel Tall was the first to take his own life on that day. Noel’s death was followed by the death of 24-year-old Eric Jordan Tomaganuk on October 2nd. Two days later, on the following Sunday, 20-year-old Miranda Seton took her own life. 

The chain reaction began after Noel’s death, when his friend, Tomaganuk took his life. Reports stated that Tomaganuk was distraught over his friend’s death. Seton took her life two days later over Tomaganuk’s death. 

Joe’s nexxt of kin were notified and Joe’s remains are to be transported to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage for autopsy.
