Troopers Arrest DUI Crash Suspect Yelling Outside Parks Highway Residence

DUI_Patrol_02After receiving a report of an intoxicated male outside of the residence near Mile 75.5 of the Parks Highway, troopers responded to the area to conduct an investigation.

When troopers arrived at the residence along the Parks Highway, they contacted 53-year-old Willow resident, Vahn Champada. They would find during their investigation that Champada had “driven his blue 1995 Dodge Caravan off the roadway striking out culvert,” the trooper dispatch reports. Champada  suffered no injuries in the crash.

Troopers would find that Champada had been consuming alcohol and driving under the influence at the time of the incident. Champada was placed under arrest for DUI. Troopers transported Champada to Palmer, where he was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility there. Champada’s bail was set at $5,000 plus a court approved third party custodian. Champada had two prior DUI convictions, one of which occurred in the past ten years.
