Troopers Make Arrest in Year-Old Tununak Murder Case

trooperarrestAlaska State Troopers reported advances in a year-old case involving the death of a Tununak man found deceased near the old Tununak clinic in October of 2014.

Troopers responded to Kipnuk and took into custody 33-year-old Ryan Samson on an arrest warrant for Murder I and Tampering with Evidence after a Thursday Grand Jury indictment on  the charges.

Walter “Jason” Walter, the victim, was found outside the old village clinic in the community of Tununak, 115 miles northwest of Bethel over a year ago. The discovery was reported to the troopers at 1:30 am on October 2nd, 2014. An investigation into Walter’s death was opened at that time, and Walter’s remains were sent to Anchorage for autopsy.

After his arrest, Samson was transported to Bethel, where he was remanded to the Yukon-Kuskokwim Correctional Center.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
