(STATEWIDE, ALASKA)—The 14th annual nationwide Family Violence Warrant SWEEP was conducted across the country on October 19, 2016. The SWEEP is a day-long event in which law enforcement agencies across the United States attempt to serve outstanding family-violence warrants. The SWEEP has been held annually for the last 13 years with a total of 64,048 warrant attempt and 13,462 warrants. In 2015, 503 agencies from 36 states participated in the SWEEP resulting in 8,949 attempts to serve arrest warrants and 1,761 arrests made. This year marks the second time the Alaska State Troopers participated in the SWEEP. We appreciate the United States Marshal Service and Anchorage Police Department joining us to make Alaska’s second year another success.
Over 20 Troopers, Marshals and Court Service Officers made up the statewide detail. Arrests were attempted in every detachment across the state. There were 63 (Not including attempts made by the Anchorage Police Department.) warrant service attempts with a total of 5 arrests made.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
