Troopers Quickly Apprehend Wasilla Coffee Shop Armed Robber

trooperarrestAccording to the trooper dispatch, officers quickly apprehended a suspect after a robbery was called in from a coffee shop located on Knik Goose Bay Road in Wasilla on Wednesday morning.

Troopers received the robbery report at 6:40 am on Wednesday and received a description of the vehicle from the complainant. Trooper responded to the report, and while on the way to the scene, they saw a vehicle fitting the description given in the report.

The vehicle was pulled over and contact was made with the occupants of the vehicle. A passenger in the vehicle was identified as 37-year-old Soldotna resident, Vincent Calderon. [xyz-ihs snippet=”adsense-body-ad”]The investigation at the scene revealed that Calderon was a felon and in possession of a firearm. It further found that Calderon had “demanded money from the barista and in the process, placed the barista in fear of being injured,” the trooper report said.

As troopers continued their investigation, they determined that Calderon had damaged a window at the coffee shop during the robbery.

It was found that Calderon also had previous outstanding warrants. Calderon was arrested on the warrants, as well as Armed Robbery I, Assault III, Misconduct Involving Weapons III (All felonies) as well as Criminal Mischief IV, and Theft III. Calderon was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility in Palmer. He remains in custody, and is due in court for arraignment on Thursday afternoon.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adversal-468×60″]
