A chilling case of attempted murder occurred on Thursday morning in Sterling on the Kenai Peninsula.
Alaska State Troopers recieved and responded to a report of an assault involving a knife in Sterling at 9:02 am on Thursday, September 6th.
The troopers report their investigation revealed that 31-year-old Soldotna resident Diana Steger contacted her boyfriend then made arraignments to pick him up and drive to a local laundromat. She made the arraignment with her boyfriend on the pretext of talking with him about their relationship.

Once arriving at her boyfriend’s home, the boyfriend got in the vehicle to go to the laundromat. After traveling a short distance from the man’s house, a second person, identified by the troopers as 25-year-old Soldotna resident, Ayanna Nelson, emerged from the pile of laundry in the back seat where she had been hiding.
Nelson grabbed the man around the neck and held a knife to his throat. During this act, the man would suffer three significant cuts to his neck. The man would ultimately escape the vehicle and run away.
After calling for help, EMS would treat the man for his injuries before he made his own arraignments to go to the hospital.
The two women, Steger and Nelson fled the area in their vehicle, but were apprehended a few miles from the scene.
Steger and Nelson were arrested, transported and remanded to the Wildwood Pretrial facility in Kenai, where they are being held on charges of Attempted Murder and Assault II.
Steger was also charged with violating her conditions of release
