credit card theftAfter a month long investigation into their use of stolen credit cards, Alaska State Troopers arrested two Wasilla suspects on charges of Theft, Forgery and Fraud as well as Probation Violation on Monday.

Troopers contacted 25-year-old Shane Kozak and 32-year-old Leslie Hruby, both of Wasilla, on outstanding warrants on February 16th. During the contact, troopers also located items that they believe were stolen by the two suspects. An investigation into the items was initiated after investigators determined that the items were purchased on a stolen credit card. The investigation would find that indeed the items had been purchased on a stolen card.

Troopers contacted the owner of the card, and that person worked actively with the investigators to help obtain evidence and identify the fraudulent purchases.

After the month long investigation, troopers determined that multiple purchases had been made on the stolen card at four different Wasilla businesses totaling $1,600.

The investigation would also find that Kozak and Hruby were on Felony Probation for previous theft convictions.

Both were charged with Theft II, III, and IV, Forgery I, Fraudulent Use of an Access Device, Criminal Trespass I, and Probation Violations. Kozak and Hruby were transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and remanded there to await arraignment.
