Alaska State Troopers say that a Wasilla teen suffered “life-threatening injuries” in an early morning Sunday crash at mile 37 of the Parks Highway.

Troopers responded to the scene at 5:35 am on Sunday to investigate the single vehicle accident on the Parks Highway. EMS also responded, and transported 18-year-old Leeana Backlin to the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center. Backlin was subsequently transported further to the Providence Medical Center for treatment of her severe injuries.

Troopers at the scene determined that Backlin was traveling on the highway in a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee when she lost control of her vehicle and rolled several times.

Backlin’s next of kin were notified of the incident.
