Again, the House of Representatives in Washington voted on the repeal of President Obama's Healthcare law.

In an effort to motivate their base, the Republican-dominated House approved the repeal legislation by a vote of 244-185 after debating the measure on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The vote was pretty much along party lines,although five Democrats defected and voted with the Republicans on the repeal legislation. Each of those five are facing very tough re-elections this cycle. Their action has allowed the Republicans to declare that the legislation passed with bi-partisan support.

The vote in the House was an effort to put llegislators on record as to how they voted against the bill that was declared constitutional by the Supreme Court earlier this month. Senate Republicans are pushing for a vote in the Senate to do the same there. That vote will no doubt die on the vote there. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky) is leading the push there. He said in a statement that he would push for a vote against the “worse piece of legislation…in modern times.” McConnell went on to say, “The Republican leadership in the House has once again fulfilled its commitment to protect the American people from the tax hikes and mandates in ObamaCare … that are making it harder for small businesses to hire.” The repeal is attached to the Small Business Tax Bill.

Alaska’s Representative Don Young voted for the repeal.

In a statement after the vote on H.R. 6079, Young said, “This vote, while largely symbolic, is an important step in repealing and replacing ObamaCare. We have drawn a line in the sand; this House cares more about creating jobs and lowering taxes than increasing Washington’s control over our healthcare system.”

President Obama said that he will veto any repeal bill that comes to his desk.
