Former producer at Fox 7-Austin, Phillip Perea, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest after shooting himself outside the main Fox Corporation headquarters in New York after handing a security guard there a note on Monday morning.

Perea, who had produced a series of YouTube videos laying out how he was bullied into losing his job at the Texas Fox affiliate, had been handing out flyers publicizing how the corporation had ruined his career.

Perea had produced 12 videos directly related to the circumstances that ended his employment at KTBC in Austin. He would produce another 22 videos documenting his fight with Fox 7 and its parent corporation. On Monday, Perea would release his last video just prior to committing suicide outside the midtown Manhattan building where 21st Century Fox resides.

In his multitude of videos, Perea freely admitted that he suffered from ADD as well as OCD, but stood by his claim that his troubles first began with a Facebook photo that included a picture of Austin’s Police Chief Art Acevedo pulled from a video-taped press conference resulting from the arrest of female jogger Amanda Jo Stephen, who was arrested for jaywalking by the department. The image of Stephen was also posted by Perea, shown sitting on the sidewalk crying.

The police chief would retaliate by no longer talking to KTCB, which, in the videos, upset the general manager considerably.

After being reprimanded for the unflattering image of the police chief pulled from the video, Perea told how he was repeatedly bullied by his superiors over the months after the incident. That alleged bullying would ultimately result in him no longer working at the Fox affiliate. Perea documented all of his conversations by recording them, and much of his videos relied on those tapes to which he also added narration.

In his last release just before his death, Perea’s video began with the statement “You can murder a man without killing him.” The video went on to admonish Fox for their actions as the video’s text said, “Righteous Cause Demands a Martyr.” He continued saying that 2015 would be the worse year of Fox’s existence, then demanded that the mega-news corporation pay his youngest sisters a sum of $1 billion.

After shooting himself, Perea would be rushed to a New York hospital, but would die a short time later.
