Troopers report that there were no survivors located in the crash of a Cessna 208B operated by Hageland Air that occurred on Sunday afternoon near the community of Togiak.

Dillingham-based Alaska State Troopers were informed of a Emergency Locator Beacon that was activated near the community of Togiak at 1:26 PM  on Sunday, and Alaska State troopers and Alaska Wildlife  troopers responded to the area in a department helicopter.

Once they landed in the difficult terrain, they were able to hike in and assess the crash site.

An investigation was opened, and it was revealed that the aircraft had been “traveling from Quinahak to Togiak with three people on board, two of which were Hageland Aviation pilots,” the trooper dispatch revealed. Troopers stated that “no survivors were located.”

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration were notified of the crash and are working today to get to the site to assist in the continuing investigation that was already initiated by troopers. Weather has been hampering their response efforts as they set up a base of operations in Dillingham.

Hageland Aviation operates as a component of Ravn Alaska.

Update: On Wednesday, troopers released the name of one victim, the passenger on the flight, as that of 49-year-old Louie John of Manokotak. The names of the pilot and co-pilot are still being with-held pending notification of next of kin.
