Nome Man Arrested on Multiple Charges Including Kidnapping

 

A Nome man was arrested on multiple charges that included Kidnapping after a Saturday night incident near a Glacier Creek Road location after his victim called into Nome police 911, troopers revealed.

Nome police reported to troopers that they had a vehicle actively eluding them with a kidnapped victim aboard in the Glacier Creek area. The woman reported to 911 that “she had been assaulted by the male driver, and he was refusing to allow her to exit the vehicle.”

Troopers responded to the area only to find that the driver, later identified as Nome resident 36-year-old Daniel Ahmasuk, had gotten his vehicle stuck in the snow and had then fled the scene.


Troopers would leave, then revisit the scene on snow machines to find that Ahmasuk he returned to his vehicle. He was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with Assault III, Kidnapping, Fail to Stop at the Direction of a Peace Officer, Reckless Driving, and two counts of Reckless Endangerment.

Ahmasuk was transported to the Anvil Mountain Correctional Center where he was remanded on the charges and held without bail.
