Remains found, Believed to be those of Elderly Platinum Man

Troopers reported on Wednesday, that remains have been recovered in the vicinity of Platinum that are believed to be those of 74-year-old Henry Williams of that village.

Williams went missing on February 27th after he left Goodnews Bay enroute to his home in Platinum. Ground searchers, as well as aircraft were deployed in the the search that eventually garnered no results, after Williams failed to show up at his destination the next day. Williams had made the 30-minute trip to Goodnews Bay to shop for groceries there and was on his return trip when he disappeared.

On March 30th, the Alaska State Troopers were notified that an ATV matching the description of the four-wheeler that Williams was driving, turned up near Platinum. Within minutes of that discovery, human remains were also discovered on Carter Spit north of Goodnews Bay.

Although the remains have yet to identified, authorities have sent the body to the State Medical Examiner in Anchorage for positive identification and details as to cause of death.
