Troopers Arrest, Identify Driver in Wasilla High Speed Chase

Alaska State Troopers divulged to name of the driver involved in a high-speed late chase last week, where a trooper vehicle was rammed twice during a traffic’s incident.

Although troopers had initially contacted the driver on W. Clairborne Drive near Hollywood Road, the driver gave the officer a false name. Spokesperson for AST, Megan Peters, said that after investigating, the name given by the driver was determined not to be correct as “the name of the person given was currently in custody.”

The driver’s name has now been revealed as 20-year-old Wasilla resident John Allen Wolf Jr.

After initially stopping, Wolf would speed away from the traffic stop nearly running over the trooper. Wolf then “led troopers on a lengthy high-speed pursuit through nearby neighborhoods for approximately 10 min. during which time he rammed one Alaska state trooper vehicle two separate times causing both extensive damage to the patrol vehicle and minor injury to the trooper.”

Peters reports that “the trooper in the incident suffered a bruised leg and a bump to the head.” That officer is now been cleared and is back on duty.

After ramming a patrol vehicle, Wolf drove his black 1999 grand Cherokee down a nearby ATV trail.

It was after that incident late last week, the troopers requested that warrants be issued for Wolf’s arrest.

Troopers revealed on Wednesday at 4 PM that will was contacted in Anchorage by Alaska State Trooper with the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force. He was arrested on a 50,000 warrant without incident.

Court records show that Wolf faces charges of two counts of Attempted Murder I, two counts of Assault II, one count of Assault III, one count of Criminal Mischief III, one count of Driving without a License, one count of DUI, and failure to stop at the direction of an officer. Seven of the 10 counts are listed as felonies.

But, the District Attorney would drop the Attempted Murder charges as well as the Assault charges prior to sending the case to the Grand Jury.

Wolf is being held on $7,500 bail and the Court Approved Third-Party Custodian.

Wolf’s next court date is November 7th.
