At 5:36 pm on Friday, Alaska State Troopers responded to a structure fire near mile 315 of the Parks Highway after receiving a call from the Nenana Volunteer Fire Department.

The trooper report stated that “by the time the firefighters arrived at the scene 10 miles north of Nenana, the residence and outbuildings were fully engulfed” in flames. But, with the assistance of both ground and air assets from BLM, the fire department was able to prevent the flames from spreading into the surrounding forest.

A total of five structures, including the residence, were destroyed in the fire.

On Saturday, the deputy fire marshal traveled to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire and his investigation found evidence of the fire being intentionally set. As a result, 27-year-old Nenana resident, Toby Hugny-Farr was arrested on charges of Arson I on Sunday morning.
