Omar Gonzalez, the man who climbed over the fence at the White House, ran across the grounds and made entry through the north doors of the building, now faces additional charges after a grand jury indictment brought “Two counts of assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers or employees, and one District of Columbia count of unlawful possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device.”

These new charges are added to the original charges of “unlawfully entering a restricted building or grounds while carrying a deadly or dangerous weapon, a federal offense; carrying a dangerous weapon outside a home or place of business, a District of Columbia offense; and unlawful possession of ammunition, also a D.C. offense,” according to the Justice Department.

The new charges stem from allegations that he ” assaulted, resisted or impeded two U.S. Secret Service officers,” and when searched his vehicle was reportedly ” contained hundreds of rounds of ammunition, both in boxes and in magazines, two hatchets and a machete.”

When apprehended inside the White House by agents, Gonzales was found to have a black, serrated-edge, three and a half inch folding knife in his pocket.

Gonzalez has been in custody since his arrest at the scene on September 19th, and is scheduled in court on October 21st.
