Anchorage Man Arrested for Attempted Murder after Shooting Two on Wednesday

Following an investigation of a dual shooting that took place on the 600-block of East Fifth Avenue on Wednesday night, police report that after being questioned by investigators, 24-year-old Rusty Tuuaga was placed under arrest on multiple charges.

Police responded to the shooting location at 8:45 pm on Wednesday night. When they arrived, they found two victims, a man, and woman, laying on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims were immediately transported to a local hospital. The male victim was suffering from life-threatening injuries, the female suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

A perimeter was set up in the area, and soon, Tuuaga was located and taken into custody. Police reported that the shooter and his victims were acquaintances and APD believe that the shooting incident may have been drug-related.

Police remained in the area for several hours as the shooting was investigated.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]After being questioned by police, Tuuaga was charged with multiple crimes that included Attempted Murder, Assault I, Tampering with Evidence and Reckless Endangerment. He was transported to the  Anchorage Jail.
