An un-named 12 -year-old juvenile male was arrested on Wednesday after taking a bb gun to the local school gym in Ambler on Saturday evening, injuring another student there.

It was on Saturday evening at approximately 9 pm, that a 12-year-old boy from Ambler took a bb gun to the gym and commenced to shoot at the security cameras there. But, the incident did not end there acccording to the trooper dispatch.

After shooting at the security cameras, the young boy shot at a 13-year-old girl who was at the gym. The young girl took cover behind an entrance door to the gym, but was shot in the leg by the boy. The boy continued firing his bb gun at the girl who was behind the door. But, the glass in the door prevented hiim from hitting the young girl in the face. The bb gun did damage the glass in the door causing approximately $250 to the glass, according to the report.

The 12-year-old boy was arrested on charges of Assault III, Reckless Endangerment, and Criminal Mischief IV for the incident. He was transported to the Nome Youth Facility where he was remanded for arraignment.

Ambler is a small community of approximately 258 according to the 2010 census. Ambler is on the north bank of the Kobuk River 45 miles above the Arctic Circle, 138 miles northeast of Kotzebue.
