The Orange County Sheriff's department, along with the Coast Guard and Border patrol spent the day yesterday pulling bales of marijuana from the ocean of of Dana Point, 13 miles of the coast of Orange County. Three harbor vessels as well as a coast Guard Cutter worked until night retrieving the flotilla of drugs.
The first reports of bales of Marijuana came about noon yesterday. Before the day ended over 160 bales were recovered and transported to Dana Port Harbor. The estimated weight of those bales are 8,000 pounds.
The value of the haul yesterday is being estimated at more than $3 million.

There are no suspects connected with the bobbing buds, no vessels were reported in the area of the find. There had been no chase reported before the find. Border patrol say that the presence of the floating bales is unusual in that in most cases, bales are recovered after smugglers jettison the drugs when being pursued by border patrol or the Coast Guard.
Michael Jimenez, of the Border Patrol told the Orange County Register, “the bales were floating with no boat in sight.”
Authorities do not believe that anyone will step forward to claim the lost bales.
