Anchorage, Alaska – Governor Sean Parnell on Tuesday announced that 647,549 eligible Alaskans will receive a 2011 Permanent Fund Dividend in the amount of $1,174. According to the Department of Revenue, 676,000 Alaskans applied for the 2011 Dividend. This represents a one percent increase over 2010 applications.
The first dividends will be paid on October 6 when approximately 535,000 applicants will receive a direct deposit into their bank account, and 93,000 will be mailed a check. Paper checks will be mailed on October 6 from Juneau. The actual delivery date will vary by applicant location.
Over $650 million will be directly deposited into Alaskans’ bank accounts this year, with a total distribution, including checks, of $760,224,152.99.
Beginning October 27, 2011, and continuing monthly thereafter, pending applications that are determined eligible are paid in full either by check or direct deposit.
This year marks the 30th dividend paid to Alaskans. The total potential distribution of Permanent Fund Dividends to date is $33,365.41 per person, which does not include the $1,200 Alaska Resource Rebate distributed in 2008.
