It was reported to Alaska State Troopers by the Alaska National Guard 212th Rescue Squadron on Thursday that “that the body of who they believe to be Robert Brown, 20 of Texas, was recovered from Eklutna Lake,” the trooper dispatch reported.
The 212th Rescue Squadron had been searching the lake for the past two days utilizing advanced sonar equipment and divers. They notified AST at 1:3o pm of their discovery.
There have been several attempts to locate Brown since his kayaking accident on May 16th. It was then that a call went in to the Anchorage Fire Department reporting a kayak overturn on the lake.
On May 23rd, the troopers coordinated with the Eklutna Hydro Plant to shut down the pump at the lake in order to safely search with divers around the water intake that supplies Anchorage with water. But, that search produced negative results.
Brown’s next of kin have been informed of these latest results, and the remains have been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorages for positive identification.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
