Anchorage residents were shook awake this morning at 7:02:51 am today s the earth below them shook with a 4.6 magnitude quake.
The shaker originated 36.7 miles below them eight miles southwest of the city. Because of the relative proximity of the earthquake, the quake was felt strongly in the Alaskan community, although there were not any reports of injury or major damage. The jolt served to fray some early morning nerves and shake items off of shelves however. Many estimated the quake as larger than reported.
Facebook was abuzz with reports of the quake from Anchorage residents as well as images posted showing items that crashed to the floor during the shaker.
