ADAK, Alaska-A 5.1 magnitude earthquake struck north of the Aleutian Chain this morning at 8:06 am, 9:06 Alaska Time. There were no reports of damage. The earthquake occurred approximately 59 miles north of Atka, and approximately 1059 miles West-south-west of Anchorage. According to USGS, the trembler was generated at a depth of 138.9 miles beneath the surface of the south Bering Sea.
Within 8 minutes the West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Center issued an info only alert announcing that no threat of Tsunami existed.
