An eight-year-old girl was injured on Tuesday when a school bus impacted a vehicle in Ketchikan at 4:43 pm in snowy conditions.
According to the trooper report, school bus driver, 56-year-old Karen Hollywood was driving on Roosevelt Drive amid snowy conditions when the rear of her bus impacted the open door of a parked vehicle just as a young child was entering the vehicle through the door.
As a result of the impact, the child sustained injuries to their leg.
The South Tongass Fire Department and Alaska State Troopers responded to the scene and the young child was transported to the PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center where they were treated for superficial injuries. After treatment, the child was released to parents.
Hollywood was issued a citation for failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision.
