On early Saturday morning multiple people called in to the Alaska State Troopers to report a vehicle roll-over with the driver ejected from the vehicle at mile 195 of the Parks Highway.
Troopers responded after receiving the reports shortly before 2 am. When a Cantwell-based trooper reached the scene, he found the driver, who was the only occupant of the 2002 Chevy Trailblazer, unresponsive.
Lifesaving efforts were made on the female, identified as 26-year-old Willow resident Brittany Hyatt, but those efforts were unsuccessful and Hyatt was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation at the crash location revealed that Hyatt was traveling southbound on the highway when she failed to negotiate a sharp left turn in the highway and went of the road on the right side. The vehicle travelled down a steep ditch on that side of the highway and rolled several times. Hyatt, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle.
Hyatt’s remains have been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage for autopsy.
