After neither Edie Brickell, known for her hit “What I am,” and Paul Simon, one half of the duo Simon and Garfunkel, failed to appear in court as scheduled on Tuesday, prosecutors decided to drop charges of Disorderly Conduct against the two.
The two were charged after a domestic dispute that took place at a cottage on their property in New Canaan, Connecticut in late April. According to court documents, Simon had shoved Brickell after which she slapped him. Simon suffered a superficial wound to his ear and Brickell had a minor bruise to her wrist after the domestic confrontation.
Police responded to the couple’s residence after receiving a 911 hang-up call.
The couple, who have been married since 1992, were arrested by police after the incident. They were released from jail the following morning.
