After being on the missing list for over two years, 20th Century Fox executive Gavin Smith’s remains have been located and identified.
Smith, who worked in Hollywood, disappeared after being last seen leaving a friend’s home in Oak Park on May 1, 2012. After he left that location between 9 pm and 10 pm that night, he was never heard from or seen again. He was reported missing when he failed to pick up his son from school.
But, now, almost two and a half years later, his remains were located in a shallow grave in the Angeles National Forest. He was discovered by hikers on October 26th.
It was in March of last year, that Smith’s luxury car was located in a storage belonging to well-known drug dealer John Cheecch. Smith’s wife let it be known early in the investigation of Smith’s disappearance that she beleived that he had been murdered.
It was after the dicoverey of Smith’s vehicle there that Creech was named as a person of interest in the case. He was never charged with anything in connection with Smith’s disappearance however. Creech is currently serving an eight year sentence for an unrelated crime.
Although an autopsy is taking place, coroners admit that his cause of death may never be determined ass the body is so badly decomposed.
